Production of High-Concentration Isobutylene
SPS EUROCHIM upgraded the existing technology for preparation of high-concentration isobutylene of polymerization grade from isobutylene-containing fractions. As a result, the technology is characterized by low power consumption and high production yield per reaction volume unit.
The technology was successfully implemented at OJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim (Tatarstan, Russia) in 2012. Current capacity of isobutylene production is equal to 160 thousand tons per year.
We have also developed the technology for preparation of high-concentration isobutylene through synthesis and decomposition of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE).
The technology includes two stages:
First stage
MTBE synthesis from isobutylene-containing fraction and methanol with the use of macroporous sulphocationite as a catalyst.
Second stage
Decomposition of MTBE with the use of a catalyst developed by SPS EUROCHIM, separation and purification of isobutylene.
The main indicators of the process for preparation of high-concentration isobutylene:
specific consumption of MTBE, kg/t | 1620; |
specific consumption of thermal power, Gcal/t | 1,5 |
