Liquid-phase technology of isoprene synthesis

The modern technology of isoprene production based on liquid-phase catalytic synthesis from isobutylene and formaldehyde was developed and commercialized by the team of employees of SPS «EUROCHIM». The technology does not comprise the stage of catalytic decomposition of the semi-product – dimethyl dioxane – at high temperatures, and allows to significantly reduce the expenses for the process and the energy consumption.

The technology of liquid-phase synthesis of isoprene by SPS «EUROCHIM» was successfully commercialized at OJSC «Nizhnikamskneftekhim» (Tatarstan, Russia) in 2006. The capacity of the current manufacture of isoprene is 190,000 tons per year.

As the result of the process, isoprene of high (monomer) purity is produced, and is suitable for further production of synthetic rubbers and elastomers
